Printing the Metroid Missiles

My buddy Matt has been doing a bunch of 3D prints lately and he graciously printed my Metroid missile sculpts. I’ve been going through the process of sanding and finishing the missiles, preparing them for priming and painting. This is my first time finishing any sort of 3D print so I’m excited and nervous to see how they turn out.

These are the finished missile designs that were printed on the Prusa Mini.

The regular and super missiles straight from the printer.

Both missiles after a filling / sanding pass with plastic putty, wood filler, and several grits of sandpaper. Next step is to wash them and spray them with filler/primer.

Here is a collection of shots of some base designs, base redesigns, and ultimately the start of the Super Missile Lamp.
